The EMT – Paramedic Program – 2007  

 

The paramedic program prepares you to manage emergencies of acutely ill or injured patients in out-of-hospital settings and hospital acute care areas. The associate degree component builds upon the clinical foundation and provides background for individuals interested in pursuing supervisory or administrative career positions in EMS systems.

 

The EMT-Paramedic Education program is accredited by the Ohio Division of Emergency Medical Services and nationally by the Joint Review Committee of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions.

 

University of Cincinnati’s programs are the only paramedic programs in the tri-state area that have both state and national accreditation. The program association with the University Hospital Emergency Department assures the student expanded clinical opportunities that are available only at the UC program

EMS Inspector I – 01/10 – Present:

Missouri Bureau of EMS, MO

     

Conducts inspections and investigations of trauma centers, emergency medical services (EMS) practitioners, and ambulance services.  Verifies that ambulance services and ambulance personnel meet statutory and regulatory requirements before licenses are issued. Schedules and conducts on-site inspections. Verifies information on license applications in accordance with regulatory requirements. Ensures compliance with reporting requirements. Evaluates the quality of training programs; assists in drafting regulations and production of EMS publications. Works to determine EMS system needs on local, regional, and state levels. Assists in the evaluation of existing rules for consistency with statutory authority; evaluates effectiveness of implementation; gathers and responds to input from the EMS community; and assists in the drafting of new EMS regulations. Schedules, administers, and monitors the National Registry examinations for emergency medical technicians and paramedics.

 

NREMT – Paramedic: 07/09 – 01/10:

Very busy private ambulance service responsible for providing comprehensive 911, scheduled and critical care services to a diverse population of 300,000 covering 110 square miles of metro/urban communities in North St. Louis County; in excess of 35,000 calls per year. Skills include medical and traumatic patient assessments, endotracheal intubations, advanced cardiac life support, establishment of intravenous access lines, advanced pharmacology administration and other aspects of advanced life support.

Responsible for providing comprehensive 911, scheduled and critical care services to a large sundry population in urban, suburban, and rural communities of Peoria and Tazewell counties.
